Where to buy scuba gear?
Hello, I was thinking of setting up diving for a hobby and therefore I have free time these days. I ear can be very costly to implement, equipment, lessons and exams, etc. Can anyone tell me if there's anywhere that sells the Southeast equipment for good prices? It's also best to go online or find a real dive shop? I had a quick look on Google to find a few companies that sell teams, but not want to commit incase theres a cheaper option. Thanks
More professional instructors (as opposed to vendors that only after cash) recommended that the beginner diver not buy all the equipment out, especially if they have never been diving before. A complete set of equipment diving (including cylinders and accessories) can cost U.S. $ New 1500-2500, depending on the brand - and you will not get more than half of those who support the sale of second hand, if the diving is not for you. My advice would first enroll in a basic diving course. That will tell you directly if you think you might want Diving into a great way (ie if it is worth investing in all your own equipment). If you buy something before the course, no more than basic diving equipment (mask, fins, snorkel, maybe gloves and boots = U.S. $ 100-150). It is not uncommon for dive centers to ask students to purchase personal equipment (mask, snorkel, boots = U.S. $ 70 to 100) before a course, both for comfort and hygiene reasons, but avoid like the plague any dive center that required to buy the entire team (see the first paragraph). Make your basic course with equipment rental. And some diving, using different equipment hire. Then some of dive / training in a different place (s) in different conditions, different equipment rental. Talk to your instructor (s), diveguide (s) and other divers - Find out what they use, and why they chose it. After 10-20 post-dive course, you should get a pretty good idea of what the interest of underwater activities, what brand (s) team who prefer to use, and therefore what you want to buy in the long term. Subscribing to a diving magazine (s) will also give you a better idea of the good prices, and help you determine if a particular feature of the article / would be useful for you.
